Also networking for writers/publishers/editors of Short Fiction and the illustators/artists/photographers/graphic designers and businessmen & web designers who collaborate with them.

You may publish, reprint or excerpt your own works of fiction and narrative non-fiction (or non-fiction about publishing or getting published) here in the appropriate threads (or make your own). You may create your own threads for them or post them in designated threads.

The Thread Directory is our table of contents or index of sorts. It is the thread titled as such. Feel free to message me with any questions, I have my defaults set to get all messages easily.

All posts to this tribe, fiction and otherwise, are to be made with the understanding they may be subject to (full) copying and pasting for reposting by the moderator (SOLELY within this tribe). This is only so that I may periodically organize submissions into individual threads, magazine style, probably by month or season, or to tidy the board up a bit. I may also use this privilege to remove innapropriate posts and restore the integrity of compromised threads by reposting them without the innappropriate material (see guidelines below).

Some distant day in the far future, I hope to launch a publishing project of my own outside of this tribe. If I desire to use anything from here, I will contact writers separately at that time to request written permission to reprint. I will not use anything published here outside of tribe without permission, nor should anyone else.

Warning (added 1/15/2006): Tribes Terms of Use agreement as of the last time I checked has been changed to give them perpetual license to all things posted here on Tribe, with the only restriction being that the license ends when the material is deleted. By posting material directly into the threads here, you may be sacrificing various marketable copyrights and privileges. I am told, by the infamous Wade, that you can safeguard your work by posting it to your blog instead of to a thread. Then, he recommends, you copy the permalink from the blog, and use it to post a pointer in threaded posts regarding the material. He also assures us that if/when we Unsubscribe, our blogs are wiped clean, protecting us from having no access to the stuff at that time. Hmm. Tread with caution.

Guidelines for posts to this tribe:

General sexual content (ie: not explicit) and/or most vulgar content will be tolerated ONLY within the context of good fiction. PLEASE refrain from excessive use of such language outside of actual stories (this should mostly be common sense - most things are fine in moderation - my intent is not to censor, but to moderate, and as little as possible, to Edit).

Strictly mature fiction (full-blown erotica) should not be posted here. There are more appropriate private tribes elsewhere for it, some of whose links you may find in earlier threads (again, if you aren't sure you may view previous stories to gauge whats OK, use common sense, or send it to me to preview for approval).

As a reader, if you find yourself offended by some story you are reading, but the offensive material is within the context of the fiction, please just stop reading it and move on.

In any case, always feel free to privately call anything to my attention or pre-submit something to me to check if its OK.

I reserve the right to delete any innappropriate, obscene, offensive & especially trolling or flaming posts. I will also delete off-topic posts, listings, etc as per the additional guidelines below.

Malicious intent will always be reported to abuse@tribe.net requesting maximum sanctions. The offender who caused this policy to be posted has already been Unsubscribed.

I know none of the present membership really needs to hear all this, its just FYI for the future.

Listings, Reviews & Recommendations Guidelines: Because the new interface blends listings, reviews, etc. and our topical threads together on the main page of the tribe, I am joining other moderators in screening listings for appropriateness to the tribe's topic. I will delete listings, recommendations, and reviews unrelated to the tribe's central topic.

So, no more listings, recommendations, etc. about things completely off topic, please. As long as this new interface makes the main page of our tribe a mish-mash I will do this to avoid cluttering the main body of relevant threads with irrelevant, off-topic postings. I hate to do it because Tribe has enough 'censorship' already, but the new interface has forced my editorial hand.

My apologies to loyal members who were able to make positive use of those features before, but since they merged (why?) those features with the main threads, some topical restraint and discretion needs to be exercised from now on.
